I was planning on writing this blog eventually, but since Shady Two already touched the changes in design of girls in the previous devblog, I though I might as well tell you about their character development a bit. Right off the bat, we decided that we will need eight primary girls for the game. One per house - sounded a bit boring. Making the number of girls per house unbalanced - didn't feel right. So, two per house seemed like a good choice, and gave us a lot of flexibility and diversity too. The first iteration of all the girls came very quickly. We basically sketched and labeled them in a single evening of brainstorming.

This was what we ended up with. As you can see, most girls had the same height and body type here. Aside from Mitsuki, which we knew immediately should be very tall. They didn't have the names at that point though. Only code names that I assigned based on their general character profile. Kagura, Haruhi, Ryoko, Sakaki, Yuki, Tsuruya, Mikuru. Wonder if you can assign them all. And one of them was just labeled as "childhood friend", but that idea was scrapped later.

At that point we didn't really have a story or any other characters, but as the story formed and the characters of the girls became more fleshed out, we also felt like we needed a bit more dating diversity so we added three more girl to the roster just to spice things up. I will not go into the details of each girl and how her character progressed here, but if you do want more info on that, do say so in the comments. Or if you want to hear anything else in particular in these blogs. I will see if we can oblige.
