Devblog #35
Always back up you data. And then back up the back-ups. Damn, almost had a heart attack when I lost access to my Microsoft account and with it to the dev document for the game. It is not like there was anything critically needed there, but I still refer to it constantly, and having lost it would hamstring. Thankfully, that was one single document that I set up the unrestricted access to, and could find a surviving "share" link in my old conversation with a friend, so I could retrieve the document in the end. All the rest are dead. RIP.
On the bright side, I did return to writing the festival episode. This one is a toughy. Not because the event is hard to write, but because I am walking a thin line trying to keep the balance between it being to short and too long. I really don't want it to be any longer than it needs to be, because it already follows directly after a very long Trial of Mind section. But I also don't want it to be too short, because that would feel strange, I feel. Hopefully, it will all come together in the end. So far I have written the intro part of the event, so now I just have to write the small event for each of the girls. Not too long and not too short each.
We are also working on the inventory design, it turned out more difficult than we initially anticipated, but if when we do finish designing and adding it, it will add a whole new dimension to the game. It will not be a huge dimension, but a dimension still. Because with the inventory in, I could finally implement the consumable items. Consumables will not be a big part of the game, more of a way to balance your gameplay in exchange for shillings. Small things, like get a temporary boost to a selected stat or stamina in a nick of time, if you miscalculated and feel like you need a bit of boost *right now*.
After that I will finally return to writing the plot events for the girls. Half of them is done, but I have put off the other half a bit too long again. And Shady Two can go back to doing actual artworks like updated sprites for Violet, full-size artworks and maybe actually completed backgrounds to start filling those placeholders.
I will see you all next week then!

"Yahoo!"
I hope that "yahoo"was addressing the inventory. =) Because every time I am adding a new mechanic into the game I am really worried that I am "diluting the purity of the experience" and "making the game more complicated than needed". Even though many people complain that the game is too boring right now '^_^
It's of course for the inventory. I'm excited to see on how much it'll help, especially for the Trials and Exams, where temporary stat increases would be helpful
