Devblog #34
Well, this last week was really disappointing. Not only was I either sick or busy most of the time, but I could barely write anything worthwhile in the spare time that I had. Still, I did start working on that big event that I was talking about in one of my previous devblogs. The one that follows right after the Trial of Mind. What makes it big is that in the event you should be able to choose and meet any of the eight main girls. Spend a little time with them during the Samhain festival, get a bit of feedback on your performance during the Trial. Each individual meeting will be relatively small, generally smaller than a normal plot even, but since I have to write six of them right now (and two more when the other girls will be added) makes this event much more of an endeavor to tackle.
Another thing that stole a lot of my time was the new sprites that we were working on with Shady Two. Most of the girls are long overdue for some sprite updates, since they have only one or two poses that they had since the 0.0.1 version. Lily and Violet are the main victims of this injustice, so they are first in line. But since they were also one of the first ones that I made for the game, a lot of things in their code was not optimized. No, that is not correct. It was optimized wrong.
You see, when I first started working on the sprites, I had this "genius" idea on how to standardize the sprites and streamline the work, and make everything "much easier" further along the way. Do you want to guess how it turned out? Not great. It made thing harder both for Shady Two and for me. When I was building sprites for Aisling, Elizabeth and Ciara I already decided to forego most of my original ideas on how to handle sprites. So when the new bodyparts and clothes for Lily came along and I found that I had to completely redo her sprite coding to both incorporate these new additions and to make sure I would not have to do this again when the next update to the sprite comes along. As they say: "We don't do it because it is easy. We do it because we thought it would be easy." At least, the new sprites look great, and most of them will be incorporated into the game in this update and the rest will follow suit soon.
Well, anywho, with that mostly done, you can look forward to some new cute sprites for Lily, and soon, Violet. The new events will come along too, eventually.

Sorry to hear about the shit time you've been having Shady 1, but I'm glad to hear the news of what you've been able to do thus far. Looking forward to both Samhain and the updated sprites whenever they drop, art is peak as always Shady 2.
