Devblog #55

I know I skipped last week's devblog, but I only had time to either make a game build or sit down for a devblog. And since we are in the middle of our long haul to another country, I really had very little to write about. And believe it or not, we are still not done. We have been in transit for a couple of days, and now we have spent a week in an immigration camp.

How does any of this relate to the game development besides the fact that it almost stopped any meaningful progress, I hear you ask? Well, I'll tell you. First of all, it has been a while since I had to live in a proper dormitory environment, so having to live in a small room, surrounded by new and unfamiliar people, and having to use shared kitchen, dining hall and bathroom was a good reminder on what the life of our MC actually is.

Not quite a room in a Tir na nOg dormitory, but close enough. Sans magic. Sadly, no magic is yet to be found anywhere here. Lots of strange birds, farm animals and pesky insects, but no magic. Yet! I am still hopeful.

Second of all, since it was our first real trip to a new place in a while, Shady Two and I did a some local exploring (to raise our Imagination a bit) and I got a good confirmation of the fact that you would really need a lot of Prowess to keep up with Aisling, for example. (I really need a Gwen of my own to get me back into shape.)

So, I am trying to use this temporary setback as a chance to get a better feel for a student's life in remote area. I have a lot of good writing ideas already.

Shady Two used this time to recharge her creative battery too. Who knew that spending some time in a picturesque rural area could be good for artistic people, huh? There is still some time since she can arrange a proper work area for herself and get into full production mode, but when she does, it should be something to see!

I hope you liked this small side-trip into the backstage of our development process. I do believe that next week I should be able to tell you about something more game-related.

Meanwhile, have anyone tried the dressing room in the game yet? What do you think about it?

See you next week!
Shady Character One, out!

Are devblogsa time-consuming process to write out? What's the process you do for them?

They are not THAT time consuming, but they usually take me about an hour+ each. I need to think on what we did, and what might be interesting for you guys to hear. Pick out some pictures, etc. Then I need to actually post the blog on different platforms. It all adds up.

holy crap, sorry to hear about your move, i hope they don't screw up your pc

Well, this situation was more or less expected. And I don't even have my PC with me at the moment, since that would be too much of a hassle to move around with. So until the things settle down, we would have to make do with my old laptop and Shady 2's handheld graphic tablet.

a while back i heard that someone's laptop got splashed on by water and they lost 2-3 months of work and the game's on hold till further notice, that was 2019 i think, i don't want that to happen to you cause your computer was put thru an X-Ray machine or something

Oh yeah. I am making backups at least once a month. And since I lost my backup last month, I am making backups of backups now :|
